Wine Cabinets: Store Your Wine with Style

Wine Cabinets Store Your Wine with Style

If you’re a lover of fine wine, you simply can’t have your bottles just hanging out on the kitchen counter. You need to invest in one of these extraordinary wine cabinets, which provide a place to store your wine as well as an exceptional piece of furniture to add to your home.

Wine cabinets come in a variety of styles, sizes, and designs so that you can find exactly the right one to suit your home’s decor.

Size is usually determined by both the amount of space you have available in your home as well as by how many bottles of wine you want to be able to store. Smaller wine cabinets can store 10 – 12 bottles of wine, and larger ones can hold up to 40 or 50 bottles. Although I have seen oversized “wine cellar” type cabinets that can hold 100 or more bottles at a time. Those are for your TRUE wine connoisseur.

Another determining factor is if you want your wine cabinet to also double as a mini serving bar. If so, you want the wine cabinet to be low enough that you can comfortably set glasses on top and pour yourself and your guests a fine glass of wine.

There are three key design options that tend to be the most popular:

1. Open Wine Cabinets

These cabinets display the wine in plain view, usually behind glass or wire doors. These are the closest, visually, to your typical wine rack, however they often have additional elements to them such as storage for wine glasses, side doors, drawers or a bar top for serving that distinguish them from plain old ordinary wine racks.

2. Closed Door Wine Cabinets

These wine cabinets have solid wood doors so that the wine stays tucked out of sight. This can also be helpful if you want to protect your fine wine from the damages of direct sunlight.

3. Combination Wine Cabinets

These wine cabinets have a mix of open shelving and doors or drawers so that you can display your wines but keep the necessary accouterments (including corkscrews) hidden away.  They can also be helpful for storing bottles of other types of alcohol that isn’t wine… should you own such a thing.

Wine Cabinet Styles

Style wise, the sky is the limit.  There are wine cabinets to suit nearly every decor style imaginable. From traditional, to modern, to glamorous, to farmhouse rustic and everywhere in between.

That’s one of the great things about wine… it’s as easy to enjoy in a relaxed and comfortable farmhouse atmosphere as it is in the fanciest, most glamorous house in the Hollywood hills. It’s really up to you and your personal style.

And, of course, these wine racks don’t really care if you use them to store a Merlot or a Pinot Grigio, they leave the choice of wine up to you. Although most of today’s wine cabinets are built to hold single bottles of wine and usually won’t fit magnums of champagne.

Whichever style you choose, these wonderful wine cabinets are both unique enough and functional enough to become a focal point in your home. Plus, they store wine! You can’t really go wrong with that!
